Polda Metro Jaya has received two police reports implicating lawyer Hotman Paris for statements deemed to have insulted the journalism profession.
The police confirmed that Hotman Paris will be summoned as the accused in the investigation process.
However, before making the summons, investigators will review all reports that have been received.
This was confirmed by the Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, through a brief message on Wednesday (22/7/2026).
“Yes, we will summon the accused,” he said.
The police will also question the reporters and examine the evidence submitted in the case.
In addition, examinations of several witnesses will be conducted to complete the investigation process.
For information, the first report was filed by the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) to Polda Metro Jaya on Monday night (20/7/2026).
The report was related to Hotman Paris’ statement during a press conference after accompanying former Jampidsus, Febrie Adriansyah.
PWI deemed the statement to have demeaned the dignity of the journalism profession and therefore needed to be processed in accordance with applicable laws.
After the report from PWI, the Independent Online Media (MIO) Indonesia organization also reported Hotman Paris for the same alleged offense.
Now, the investigators at Polda Metro Jaya will conduct a series of deepening investigations before determining the next legal steps in the case.
