Police have revealed new facts in the case of the baby abandonment in the toilet of the Sancaka train carriage on the YogyakartaSurabaya route on Saturday (4/7/2026).
The father of the baby, identified as HDP (31), was actually married and had two children. This condition became one of the backgrounds for the baby abandonment carried out with his mistress, NIZ (25).
Deputy Chief of the Solo Police, Commissioner Sigit, in his statement on Friday (10/7), explained that the couple dated until they engaged in a relationship similar to husband and wife.
NIZ then became pregnant and gave birth to the baby at home on July 1, 2026.
The police arrested HDP in Yogyakarta on Wednesday (8/7/2026) night, while NIZ was arrested at her residence in Tegal a day later.
The arrests were made after the Women and Children Protection Unit of the Solo Police developed the investigation based on a report from PT KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta regarding the discovery of the baby in the train toilet.
The investigation results showed that NIZ brought her baby from Tegal to Yogyakarta a day after giving birth to meet HDP.
They had discussed a plan to leave the baby at an orphanage. However, the plan was canceled because the orphanage rules did not align with their wishes.
Ratna added that NIZ actually planned to retrieve her child after marrying HDP.
However, the orphanage only allowed for a three-month stay, so the plan could not be realized.
In the disclosure of this case, the police also secured evidence such as the suspects’ clothing and baby supplies.
For their actions, HDP and NIZ are charged under Article 429 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of five years in prison, as well as Article 430 of the Criminal Code in accordance with applicable regulations.
