In a strong statement, Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, has condemned the brutal actions of Israel and called for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s forces to halt their attacks in Lebanon.
Vance likened the ongoing conflict to a cycle of retaliation, where one attack is met with another without a clear end in sight. He also criticized several right-wing ministers in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet for not supporting the nuclear deal efforts initiated by the United States and for failing to appreciate the support that Washington has provided.
These remarks were made by JD Vance as he was about to depart for Switzerland on Saturday (June 20) local time. The visit was aimed at participating in diplomatic talks with Iran and other mediator countries.
During the visit, Vance explained that the main focus of the meetings would be to discuss two key issues: the nuclear deal with Iran and efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Lebanon. He emphasized the importance of a pause in the fighting to allow for more effective diplomatic efforts.
“I can only be there for one or two days. We hope to make progress on the nuclear issue and the ceasefire in Lebanon,” Vance stated. “The big problem is that there are people shooting and then there are people retaliating, and you end up with a problem like which came first, the chicken or the egg,” he added.
Despite the tense situation on the ground, Vance noted signs of improvement and a decrease in the intensity of the conflict. He mentioned that Foreign Minister Marco Rubio and his team have been actively managing the situation in Lebanon.
Vance also highlighted the ongoing efforts of the US diplomatic team to manage the situation behind the scenes and promote stability in the region. (Tribun-Video.com)
