Police have successfully captured RK (25), the perpetrator of the murder of an online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver in Tangerang Regency.
During the arrest at his rented house, early Tuesday (14/7/2026) morning, RK resisted with a sharp weapon, prompting officers to shoot both of his legs to disable him.
The Head of Subdit Resmob at the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Jakarta Metro Police, Commissioner Arief Ryzki Wicaksana, explained that the decisive action was taken because the perpetrator attempted to escape and threatened the safety of the officers.
RK, who works as a factory laborer on a daily basis, was then taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital for treatment before being detained.
The victim, identified as ATP, was found dead with stab wounds at the ojol driver’s rest area in Villa Taman Bandara Housing Complex, Dadap, Kosambi, early Sunday (12/7/2026) morning. The victim’s motorcycle and mobile phone were missing from the location.
The housing complex is located in the northeast corner of Tangerang Regency, bordering Kamal Muara and Cengkareng, North Jakarta.
In the initial questioning, RK confessed that he acted out of desperation due to wedding expenses.
Initially, he intended to commit suicide, but his intention changed when he saw the victim asleep at the ojol post. The perpetrator attempted to take the victim’s motorcycle key, but his action was discovered.
Police seized the victim’s motorcycle, mobile phone, and the sharp weapon used by the perpetrator.
RK is charged with Article 458 of the Indonesian Criminal Code and Article 479 paragraph (3) of the Indonesian Criminal Code concerning murder accompanied by violent theft (curas), with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
